UTICA, NY – SUNYIT senior Katie Freisatz (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) has been selected to the 2010-11 Capital One Academic All-District Women's At-Large College Division Second Team, which is selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom.
Freisatz, this year's SUNYIT Wildcat Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, earned the at-large bid for her excellence both in the classroom and on the bowling lanes. Freisatz posted a 180.9 average through 58 games played and had a first-place finish, four top-five finishes and seven top-10 finishes to end the season ranked 63rd nationally in the Collegebowling.com's Top 100 player rankings.
Freisatz's individual first-place finish came during all events competition at the MVCC Hawk Invitational, where she also helped lead the Lady Wildcats to a first-place team finish for the program's first-ever tournament victory. She would also lead SUNYIT to another first-place finish on the season that would ultimately help the team earn its first-ever national ranking, as they finished the year ranked 25th out of 90 schools in Collegebowling.com's Online Ranking System.
The Lady Wildcats had five top-five finishes in the eight invitational events they competed in during the season and finished with a program-best record of 23-20 overall.
The All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The University Division team includes NCAA Division I participants, while the College Division team combines NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools. Student-athletes that are selected to the All-District First Team advance to the ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.
