ALLENTOWN, PA – The nationally ranked SUNYIT women's bowling team concluded its greatest season ever with a ninth place finish at the United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Team Championship (ITC) East Region Sectionals, which was held in Allentown, Pa. on Saturday and Sunday.

SUNYIT competed in six best-of-four Baker matches during the event and finished with a 1-5 record.  After falling to Kutztown 686-652 to open competition on Saturday, the Lady Wildcats went on to defeat Long Island University 744-704 behind their high game of the weekend with a score of 210 in game three.  The Wildcats then suffered four losses on Sunday, falling to Adelphi 723-622, Kutztown 738-690 and twice to Adrian 668-633 and 712-634.

The Wildcats had an incredible season, finishing with a 23-20 record and winning two invitational tournaments after never finishing in first place at any event prior to this year.  The squad also posted top-five finishes in eight of the 12 invitational events it competed in.

The East Sectional was one of four that took place this past weekend along with the Central (Chattanooga, Tenn.), Midwest (Peoria, Ill.) and West (Euless, Texas).  The top four teams from each sectional advanced to the Intercollegiate Bowling Championships, which will be held April 20-23 at AMF Peach Lanes in Columbus, Ga.
