UTICA, NY – For the first time in program history, the SUNYIT women's bowling team has earned a national ranking, as the Lady Wildcats are currently No. 25 out of 90 schools in the CollegeBowling.com's online ranking system.
The Wildcats have put together their greatest season ever, as they are currently sporting an overall record of 22-15 and have won two invitational tournaments after never finishing in first place at an event prior to this year. The squad also posted top-five finishes in eight of the 12 invitational events it competed in.
SUNYIT is now headed to the United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Team Championship (ITC) East Region Sectionals, which will be held in Allentown, Pa. on Saturday and Sunday. The event is scheduled to begin at 8:00 am.
The CollegeBowling.com Online Team Power Ranking (OTPR) is an objective point system for ranking all schools with college bowling teams based solely on regular season tournament performance during the current season. Originally developed in the summer of 1998 by Karl Nickolai for use at CollegeBowling.com, the OTPR includes all schools that have competed in an eligible event. An eligible event is a USBC Collegiate Division certified intercollegiate team tournament or conference that is attended by a sufficient minimum number of schools to qualify for power points.
