Box Score Bangor, ME - The Suny Poly softball team was defeated by Husson University in the NAC championship game by a score of 4-3. All of the Wildcats' runs came in the sixth inning, thanks to an RBI single from Kimberly Birmingham followed by a two-run double from Jadyn Childers. Trinity Critelli pitched the entire game, finishing with eight strikeouts. The Wildcats finished their strong 2024 campaign with a record of 26-10.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
An RBI triple from Eagle Kiara McLeod broke open the scoring in the bottom of the second inning.
The Eagles would add two more runs in the fourth inning after RBIs from Josie Cornell and McLeod.
The Wildcats would get the bats going in the sixth inning, starting with an RBI single from Kimberly Birmingham that scored Ashley Reid. Jadyn Childers followed with a two-run double to center field, which scored Kimberly Birmingham and Alivia Turk. The rally tied the game 3-3 heading into the bottom of the inning.
The Eagles would score the eventual game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth, following a throwing error on the Wildcats.
The Eagles would close out the Wildcats in the top of the seventh to secure the 4-3 victory and their fourth consecutive NAC Championship.
Trinity Critelli went the distance, striking out eight batters and only allowing three runs on seven hits.
For their tournament performances, Kimberly Birmingham, Jadyn Childers and Trinity Critelli were named to the NAC Softball All-Tournament Team.
