SB: Wildcats Split Day 2 of NAC Tournament, Earn Championship Spot.

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Bangor, ME - The SUNY Poly softball team split day two of the NAC Tournament, dropping the first game to Husson University 12-1 and winning the second game against Thomas College 10-9. The win against the Terriers gives the Wildcats a spot in the NAC Championship game, where they will once again face the Husson Eagles.

GAME 1 vs HUSSON:

Behind a three-run homerun from Kenzie Dore, The Eagles jumped out to an early lead in the first inning and did not look back.

The Wildcats would score their only run in the top of the third, when Alivia Turk roped one to right field for an RBI double.

The Eagles would immediately respond, thanks to another homerun from Dore in the bottom of the third.

Husson would blow the game open in the fourth inning, scoring seven runs on five hits and three errors. The Eagles would win in five innings by a score of 12-1.

GAME 2 vs THOMAS:

The Wildcats had a quick turnaround for game 2 and were now facing elimination.

An RBI double from Kimberly Birmingham and an RBI single from Jadyn Childers in the first inning helped The Wildcats jump on the Terriers early.

The action remained quiet until the fourth inning, when the Wildcats added four more runs on RBI hits from Birmingham, Turk and Joy Stevens

The Terriers responded in the bottom half of the inning, scoring three runs on three hits.

A sacrifice bunt from Amy DeSena and an RBI single from Kelly Powell pushed the Wildcats lead to 10-3 in the top of the seventh inning.

Thomas College fought back in the bottom of the inning, scoring six runs on five hits. The comeback effort would not be enough, as SUNY Poly would close the door on the Terriers and earn a spot in The NAC Championship game.
