SB: Wildcats Complete Series Sweep of Delhi With a 6-2 Win.

UTICA, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly softball team finished their series sweep of SUNY Delhi on Saturday afternoon with a 6-2 win. Aeron Hamm and Kimberly Birmingham each drove in two runs in the game with Aeron Hamm hitting a two-run home run in the third. The Wildcats are now 18-5 this season with a 9-1 record in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play.   

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

After a scoreless first inning, SUNY Poly took the lead in the second inning when Gabriella Ellixson hit a sacrifice fly to bring in the game's first run. In the third inning, SUNY Poly extended their lead to 5-0 with four runs. The first two scored on an RBI double by Kimberly Birmingham. The other two runs were scored on a two-run homer by Aeron Hamm.

 

SUNY Delhi finally got on the board in the fourth inning, with Kayla Beers bringing in a run with an RBI single. SUNY Poly responded with another run in the bottom of the fourth inning, with Kimberly Birmingham hitting an RBI double.

 

SUNY Delhi scored their first run in the fourth on a Kayla Beers RBI single. The Wildcats answered with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning by Maddelyn Hoehn that scored Meghan Peek. Delhi would add another run in the fifth on an RBI single by Rhianna Iglesias, but that would be the end of the scoring for both teams. The Wildcats won the game, 6-2.

 

Trinity Critelli earned her 13th win of the season. She threw a complete game, allowed four hits, struck out six batters, and allowed two unearned runs. Danielle Seymour was the losing pitcher for Delhi. She allowed six runs (5 earned).

The Wildcats will travel to Cazenovia on Tuesday to finish their three-game NAC series. The first game of the doubleheader is scheduled for a 3:00 PM first pitch. SUNY Poly currently trails 0-1 in the series and will need to sweep to
