MSOC: Wildcats Lose a Heartbreaker to SUNY Delhi in NAC West Championship 1-0.

Box Score

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's soccer team lost in the NAC West Championship on Sunday 1-0 to the SUNY Delhi Broncos. Both defensive units played great in the game, limiting offensive opportunities, leading to a low-scoring match. The Wildcats allowed the game's only goal in the 67th minute. With the heartbreaking loss, the Wildcat's season comes to an end just one game short of a berth in the NAC Championship.

The Wildcats outshot Delhi in the game 14-9, but both teams had the same number of shots on goal with four. The difference-making goal was scored in the 67th minute when Anthony Cuellar played a great pass across the box to Gabriel Monterossa who netted his shot.

This season was another in a line of solid, hard-fought, competitive seasons for Coach Peterson Jerome's Wildcats. The team made the postseason for the eighth time in the last 10 seasons. While they will lose a great group of 11 seniors; Festus Alonge, Wakeley Banker, Aboubacar Camara, Chase Coluccio, James D' Dalessio, Daragh Foley, Chase Francis, Christian Toma, Thomas Tytler, Cole Wright, and Andy Zhinin; the roster make-up of nine freshman, six sophomores, and five juniors bodes well for continuity with this group.

NAC All-Conference awards will be announced in the next handful of days, so be sure to keep an eye out for what will likely be a solid showing for the Wildcats.
