MSOC: Wildcats Drop Road Battle to the Knights

Geneseo, N.Y. – The SUNY Poly men's soccer team fell 2–0 to the SUNY Geneseo Knights on Saturday afternoon. Despite a strong effort from goalkeeper Tyler Barth, who made multiple key saves throughout the match, the Wildcats were unable to overcome early goals by the Knights. With the result, SUNY Poly moves to 4-12-1 (2-8 Empire 8) on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Geneseo came out of the gates aggressively, testing Barth early with shots from Francesco Visone and Owen Burke. The Knights opened the scoring in the 27th minute when Aidan Lodie finished a setup from Dylan Thody, giving Geneseo a 1–0 advantage. Less than two minutes later, the visitors struck again, as Eric Famularo converted another Thody assist to extend the lead to 2–0.

The Wildcats created chances of their own in the first half, including a shot by Elijah North and a strong effort by Abdoul Dabre, but the Geneseo defense held firm. Both teams saw multiple substitutions and corner opportunities, but no additional goals were scored before halftime.

In the second half, SUNY Poly increased its pressure, with Dominick Spychalski and Abdoul Dabre testing Geneseo goalkeeper Max Crothall on several occasions. Barth continued to stand tall, making critical saves on efforts from Connor Guercia, Kyle Arraiano, and others, keeping the scoreline within reach.

Despite their persistence, the Wildcats were unable to find the back of the net. Geneseo's goalkeeper and defense remained solid, repelling multiple corner kicks and shots late in the game. The match concluded with a 2–0 win for the Knights.

UP NEXT: The Wildcats will be on home turf for their final outing of the season against the Alfred University Saxons on October 29th at 6:00 P.M.
