Box Score MARCY, N.Y.- The SUNY Poly Women's Basketball Team (16-7, 14-2 NEAC) took care of business Saturday afternoon as they cruised to an 82-35 victory over visiting Penn St.-Berks (1-19, 1-15 NEAC).
The Wildcats ran out to a quick 18-4 lead early in the first half and would never look back from there. A combination of tough defense and a dominating performance on the boards were key to the resounding victory. The Wildcats held Berks to just 22.4% shooting while out rebounding them 70-32.
Freshman guard Paige Gallo (Ballston Spa, N.Y./ Ballston Spa) took the lead for the hosts as she tallied her first career double-double, leading the team in scoring with 18 points while collecting 10 rebounds. Lauren Knowles (Salisbury Mills, N.Y./ Washingtonville) and Bethany Karl (Sidney, N.Y./Sidney) also put together a solid afternoons Knowles scoring 14 points while grabbing 15 rebounds, and Karl adding 8 points with 11 boards.
Penn St.-Berks was led by Shanelle Koch who scored 13 points and had 8 rebounds for the visitors.
The Wildcats are back in action Friday February 20th at 5:00 pm as they host Keuka College in another NEAC showdown.
