MARCY, N.Y. - For the last few weeks the Campus Center Gym has been closed to the public; white copy paper has adorned all of the windows to keep peering eyes out. Some of us were lucky enough to sneak a peek at the work being done (or just had a set of keys to get into the locked gym to take some pictures). This photo gallery serves as a chronicle of the last week of work, watching in as the experts lay the new basketball court down onto a blank canvas one layer of paint at a time.
The remodel included a full sanding and repainting of the gym floor which has housed countless games over its lifetime. Sanded away are the layers of paint and oil from the SUNYIT and SUNY Utica/Rome days. The departed layers make way for a completely new design, integrating the golden addition to our color scheme. Along with the floor, the walls will be getting a coat of paint to freshen up the look. Again, the gold will be added to fit the theme. The scoreboard that has long hung from the rafters will get a facelift as well, adding new logos and sponsors to match the rest of the gym. The remodel looks amazing thus far, just see it for yourself. While it is not completed just yet, the bulk of the work has been completed.
This beautiful facility is one that will take us forward; this is the court where future student athletes will compete for championships. This gym will be home of our basketball programs well into the foreseeable future.
