Box Score Marcy, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's basketball team (10-6, 8-1 NEAC) beat Cazenovia (7-9, 5-4 NEAC) Wednesday night 66-60. With the win the Wildcats extend their win streak to four. Lauren Knowles (Salisbury Mills, N.Y. / Washingtonville) led the way with a double-double, putting up 19 points and adding 15 rebounds. She also added seven blocks on the day.
SUNY Poly scored the first points of the game off a Molly MacLachlan (Marcellus, N.Y. / Marcellus) three and maintained the lead throughout the first half. From strong play in the paint and full-court defense, the home team was able to push out to an early lead. Knowles played a big role in the first half putting up 13 points and pulling down 7 rebounds. After fighting off a late run from Cazenovia, SUNY Poly went into the locker room up 34-30.
The second half was on pace with the first. The two teams exchanged points the entire half with the home team never losing the lead. SUNY Poly held a comfortable lead late into the second half until they had to hold off another late run from Cazenovia.
MacLachlan finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Tierney McGlynn (Watervliet, N.Y. / Watervliet) added another 10 points while dishing out four assists. Geena Gallo (Ballston Spa, N.Y. / Ballston Spa) was the last player to score in double digits with 10 points. Emily Alicea (Mohegan Lake, N.Y. / Lakeland) and Erika Charbonneau (Boonville, N.Y. / Adirondack) rounded out the scoring with nine and four points, respectively.
SUNY Poly returns to action Saturday at 1:00 in another home conference matchup against SUNY Cobleskill.
