Box Score COBLESKILL, N.Y. - The SUNY Polytechnic Women's Basketball Team improved to 3-0 in conference play with an easy victory on the road Wednesday night at SUNY Cobleskill. The Wildcats evened their record at 5-5 overall with the 77-40 victory.
SUNY Poly forced a whopping 35 Fighting Tiger turnovers on the night while holding the host team to just 24% shooting from the field.
Molly MacLachlan (Marcellus, N.Y. / Marcellus) led the way with 17 points including a lights-out 4-for-7 performance from beyond the arc.
Geena Gallo (Ballston Spa, N.Y. / Ballston Spa) added 13 points and a team-high 5 steals, while Lauren Knowles (Salisbury Mills, N.Y. / Washingtonville) contributed 11 points and a team-best 9 rebounds.
The Fighting Tigers were unable to get much going, however sensational sophomore Shelby Preston continued to post big numbers, finishing the contest with 23 points and 11 rebounds.
Preston finished the game 7 for 16 from the field - the rest of the Cobleskill lineup managed just 4 made field goals combined.
The blowout victory allowed some SUNY Poly reserves to get involved. Notably Bethany Karl and Nicole Dupuis added 6 points apiece, with Dupuis knocking down both of her three-point attempts. Second-semester addition Barrie Brooks led all reserves with 8 points and also dished out 3 assists in her 10 minutes of play.
SUNY Poly will head to Wilson College next for another NEAC conference. The game is scheduled for this Saturday, January 17th, at 3:00 pm.
