Box Score KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Women's Basketball Team got the monkey off their back in a big way on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Keuka Storm for the first time in 8 tries and the first time ever on Keuka's home court.
Deasia Goodson (Freeport, N.Y. / Freeport) had a monster double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds on the day, and Abbey Hanehan (Stillwater, N.Y. / Stillwater) led all Wildcats with 18 points to help SUNYIT claim the victory, 78-74.
With the score locked at 70-70 and just 49 seconds remaining, Tierney McGlynn knocked down a huge three-pointer for the Wildcats to put them up 73-70, and Hanehan was clutch in making 5-of-6 from the free throw line the rest of the way to salt away the victory for SUNYIT.
Despite being out shot by the Storm 42% to 35%, the Wildcats made up for it with a giant advantage on the glass, as SUNYIT pulled down an extra 22 boards (58 to 36).
With a win over the perennial powerhouse Storm, the Wildcats are in great shape at 3-0 in the NEAC and 4-3 overall. Their next game is Saturday, December 14th as they host Keystone College at the Campus Center Gym. Game time is set for 2:00 pm.
