Box Score CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Women's Basketball Team (3-2, 2-0 NEAC) knocked down 19 free throws in a 68-51 road win at Cazenovia Tuesday night.
With neither team shooting particularly well, the difference proved to be SUNYIT's ability to draw contact, as the Wildcats forced 21 fouls by the home team, resulting in 28 free throw attempts for SUNYIT.
Senior Abbey Hanehan (Stillwater, N.Y. / Stillwater) led all scorers with 14 points (including 6-for-7 on FT's), while also pulling down 9 rebounds and dishing out 4 assists.
The most impressive performance of the night, however, came from SUNYIT sophomore forward Deasia Goodson (Freeport, N.Y. / Freeport). Goodson narrowly missed a triple double, recording 10 points, 16 rebounds, and 8 blocks on the night.
Goodson's prowess on the inside helped SUNYIT hold Cazenovia to just a 24% shooting performance from the field.
The Wildcats will put their 2-game win streak on the line Thursday night as they host cross-town rival Utica College. Game time is slated for 5:00 pm.
