Box Score AURORA, NY – The SUNYIT women's basketball team forced 22 turnovers and turned them into 22 points en route to a 63-52 victory over the Wells Express in NEAC action Saturday. The win improved the Lady Wildcats to 12-6 in the NEAC and 13-7 overall, while Wells dropped to 3-14 in the conference and 3-17 overall.
The Wildcats registered 12 steals on the day and took care of the ball with just 11 turnovers in the contest. They were in control for most of the contest, building a double-digit lead in the first half and using a 9-0 run in the final five minutes before the break to head into intermission up 17 points, 37-20. SUNYIT continued to control the tempo in the second half, going up by as much as 19 points and not allowing Wells to get any closer than 10 points down to cruise to victory.
Sophomore Lyndsey Brognano (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) scored a team-high 16 points to go along with five rebounds and four assists for the Wildcats, while senior Tamara Williams (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) finished with 11 points and seven rebounds and classmate Taylor Topping (Bronx, NY/Preston) added 10 points and five boards.
Ashley Roser finished with game highs of 20 points, 15 rebounds, eight assists and eight blocks for Wells, with Gabrielle Palozzolla adding 15 points.
The Wildcats will be back in action tomorrow when they host conference foe College of Saint Elizabeth at the Campus Center Gymnasium. Tip-off is scheduled for noon.
