WASHINGTON, D.C. – The SUNYIT women's basketball team held Penn State Berks to just 20 percent shooting from the field and forced 21 turnovers to handily defeat the Nittany Lions 65-40 in the NEAC Tournament Quarterfinals, which was held at Gallaudet University Friday night.

The Lady Wildcats, who improved to 19-7 overall, will now take on top seed Gallaudet in the semifinals Saturday at 4:00 pm.  Follow all of the action by viewing live stats here.

SUNYIT held Berks to just 13-of-65 from the floor, including 3-of-14 from 3-point land.  The Wildcats also dominated the paint, scoring 42 points from there as opposed to 18 for Berks.  This helped the Wildcats build a 13-3 lead six minutes into the contest and they would never look back, taking a 19-point lead into halftime and holding a double-digit lead throughout the entire second half en route to the victory.

Senior Taylor Topping (Bronx, NY/Preston) went 6-of-7 from the field and 5-of-7 from the free throw line to finish with a game-high 17 points, while also grabbing nine rebounds and collecting two steals.  Sophomore Lyndsey Brognano (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy), who was named to the NEAC All-Conference First Team earlier in the week, scored 15 points and dished out three assists.  Junior Sarah Couvillon (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs) finished with six points, six boards and a game-high four blocks.

Taylor Kreider scored 10 points for Berks, with Steph Binder adding nine points.

In the day's other quarterfinal round action, No. 3 seed Penn State Harrisburg defeated No. 6 seed SUNY Cobleskill 64-55 to advance to the semifinal round of the tournament.  Harrisburg will now square off against No. 2 seed Keuka College on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
