Syracuse, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly baseball team won in convincing fashion over the Elmira College Soaring Eagles by a score of 10-0 in seven innings. Will Orlando shined for the Wildcats at the plate, going 3-3 with three RBIs, while Jack Montanye was stellar on the mound, pitching a seven inning complete game striking out 13 batters. The Wildcats are now 10-16 on the season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

The Wildcats broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the second, when Tristan Allen led off with a single and later came around to score on a two-out RBI single by Chris Baker, giving SUNY Poly an early 1–0 lead.

SUNY Poly blew the game wide open in the third. After an error and a walk put two runners aboard, Ryan Pelton delivered an RBI single to make it 2–0. Allen followed with a base hit to load the bases, and Will Orlando came through with a two-run single to left. The Wildcats continued to pile on, as Derek Menechino added an RBI single to make it 6–0. After a hit-by-pitch and a walk forced in two more runs, the Wildcats capped a seven-run inning to take a commanding 8–0 lead.

Another run came across in the fourth when Orlando advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on a wild pitch, pushing the lead to 9–0. Orlando was a spark all game long, reaching base multiple times and collecting three RBIs.

In the fifth, the Wildcats added their final run of the day. Daniel  Flaherty, running for  Allen, scored on a base hit to right by Orlando—his third RBI of the game—to extend the lead to 10–0.

On the mound, the Wildcats' pitching staff was dominant, as Jack Montanye posted a three-hit shutout while striking out 13 Elmira hitters.
