Utica, N.Y. – The SUNY Poly women's basketball team suffered a 73-43 defeat at the hands of the SUNY Geneseo Knights in their first conference game of the season. Alysa Jackson led the Wildcats with 10 points in 28 minutes of action. With the loss, SUNY Poly's record falls to 1-8 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
SUNY Geneseo set the tone early, building a strong lead in the first quarter with tough defense and efficient offense. Audrey Hintz and Kiley Snow were key contributors, with Hintz scoring inside and Snow making an impact at the free-throw line. Geneseo's defensive pressure stifled the Wildcats' offense, forcing turnovers and limiting scoring opportunities. After the first 10 minutes, the Knights held a 14-5 lead.
The second quarter saw SUNY Geneseo extend their advantage to as much as 15 points. Despite the Wildcats' efforts, including a few timely three-pointers from Kate Donnelly and Alysa Jackson, the Knights answered every challenge. With their defense remaining tight and controlling the glass, Geneseo took a 36-21 lead into halftime.
The third quarter saw the Knights build a commanding 28-point lead. While the Wildcats showed flashes of offense, including a couple of scoring spurts, Geneseo's defense would not allow a sustained run. The Knights maintained control throughout the second half, eventually sealing the win with a final score of 73-43.
