Utica, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's basketball team was defeated by the Alfred University Saxons by a score of 56-31. Newcomer Asia Kirkpatrick led the Wildcats with 10 points and 13 rebounds. The Wildcats are now 1-12 on the season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

SUNY Poly started strong with an early layup from Hannah Shipley to take a 2-0 lead. Alfred quickly responded with a three-pointer to go up 3-2. Both teams struggled with turnovers, with multiple steals coming from each side. Alfred capitalized on several of the turnovers, eventually building a 10-4 lead. Alfred continued to maintain a slight lead, stretching their advantage to 15-8 by the end of the quarter. 

Both teams struggled with missed shots and turnovers in the second quarter, but Alfred's defense forced several steals and collected multiple rebounds to maintain control. The Wildcats would fight back behind Alysa Jackson, but the Saxons always had an answer. The Saxons would enter halftime with a 28-10 lead. 

In the second half of the game, Alfred extended their lead with a strong offensive display, capitalizing on multiple fast-break opportunities and long-range shots. Asia Kirkpatrick contributed offensively for SUNY Poly, scoring several layups to keep the team in the game, but the gap widened as Alfred continued to control the pace. Despite the efforts from SUNY Poly, Alfred would hold on to win the game 65-31.
