WSOC: Wildcats Defend Home Turf Against the Mighty Oaks

Utica, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's soccer team snapped a five-game losing streak with a 3-1 victory over the SUNY ESF Mighty Oaks. Kate Donnelly was the standout performer, netting all three goals for the Wildcats, while Hannah Shipley provided assists on each of Donnelly's goals. This win improves the Wildcats season record to 5-6 (0-5).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
SUNY Poly struck early, with Donnelly scoring her first goal just two minutes into the match. The Wildcats doubled their lead in the 31st minute when Donnelly found the back of the net again, marking her 10th goal of the season. Defensively, the Wildcats held strong, allowing only three shots from the Mighty Oaks and taking a 2-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Mighty Oaks responded quickly, with Taylor Weber scoring her fifth goal of the season in the 52nd minute, narrowing the deficit to 2-1. However, Donnelly answered just four minutes later, completing her hat trick and sealing the 3-1 victory for the Wildcats.
