Utica, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's soccer team secured a vital 1-0 victory over the SUNY Geneseo Knights, earning three crucial points, and securing a spot in the empire 8 playoffs. Jhonny Theze scored the Wildcats' only goal in the 24th minute, improving their season record to 9-3-4. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The match was tightly contested, with neither team managing more than four shots on target. The decisive moment came in the 24th minute when Theze caught the Geneseo goalkeeper off guard, slipping a shot past him to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead, which they held into halftime.

The second half saw a physical battle, with both teams committing five fouls. SUNY Geneseo received two yellow cards and a red card, adding to their challenges. Ryan Primus made a crucial save early in the half, ensuring the Knights remained scoreless and helping the Wildcats secure the 1-0 win.
