MLAX: Wildcats Earn Dominant Non-Conference Win at Medaille 15-4.

BUFFALO, N.Y. - SUNY Poly men's lacrosse team earned their first win of the season on Saturday, defeating Medaille 15-4 at the Medaille Sports Complex. The Wildcats dominated right from the first faceoff, scoring eight unanswered goals to open the game. The Wildcats improved their overall record to 1-1, while Medaille fell to 0-2.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

SUNY Poly started strong, scoring five goals in the first quarter while holding Medaille scoreless. Ryan Sparacino scored the opening goal for the Wildcats just under two minutes into the game. Luke Taylor, Lyle Beeman, Jared Harter, and Payton Thomas each contributed a goal to the 5-0 lead by the end of the quarter.

 

In the second quarter, Michael Baker, Andrew Maycock, and Lyle Beeman added three more unanswered goals for SUNY Poly. Medaille finally got on the board with a goal from Nathaniel Dell with four minutes left in the second. SUNY Poly held an 8-1 lead at halftime.

 

The Wildcats continued to dominate in the third quarter, scoring four more goals, with two from Payton Thomas and one each from Andrew Maycock and Griffin LaFleur. Colton Keane scored a goal for Medaille, bringing the score to 12-2 at the end of the third.

 

In the final quarter, SUNY Poly continued to add to their lead with goals from Christopher Naldini, Joshua Cargen, and Spencer Nixon. Medaille managed to score two more goals, from Colton Keane and Matt Kennedy, but it was not enough to catch up to SUNY Poly's lead.

The Wildcats will travel to New Jersey on Wednesday to take on Kean in a non-conference game. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start.
