BASE: Wildcats Split With Plattsburgh in Non-Conference Action.

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly baseball team split their weekday non-conference doubleheader with SUNY Plattsburgh on Tuesday. The Wildcats struggled on both sides of the ball in game one, getting shut out to the tune of a 14-0 loss in game one. The 'Cats would bounce back in game two, rallying behind a solid pitching performance by Carter Romansky to earn a 12-8 win to earn the split.

GAME ONE:

Game one was not a game the Wildcats want to remember. Walks, fielding errors, and a lack of offensive production were a trifecta that no one wants to be a part of. A big seven-run inning in the second by the Cardinals put the Wildcats on the defensive, trying to mount a comeback, but solid pitching by Plattsburg's Andrew Veit kept the Wildcats scoreless into the late innings. SUNY Poly managed just four hits in the game.

GAME TWO:

The toughness of the Wildcats shined through in game two. After a rough game one, SUNY Poly showed up on the offensive side of the ball in game two. Carter Romansky made his first career start for the Wildcats on the mound and went four innings and kept Plattsburgh in check. The Wildcat offense put up 13 hits and scored 12 runs behind Romansky who earned his first career win.

GAME NOTES:

  • Michael Cough went 3-3 for the Wildcats in game two with a double, two singles, and two runs scored.

  • Kyle Liddy had a pair of hits in four plate appearances and drove in a game-high four runs. He is the Wildcats RBI leader this season with six.

  • Alexander Bonacci and Chris Ling each had a pair of hits in the game and each scored three runs. Bonacci also drove in a run.

  • Carter Romansky earned his first career win. He struck out three and allowed two hits in four innings of work.

  • Paul Barber went 2-4 in the game with two RBIs.

UP NEXT:

The Wildcats will continue their conference schedule with a doubleheader against Cazenovia on Saturday, April 24th. The game will be in Cazenovia. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
