MBB: Wildcats Lose Close Game With Sage.

ALBANY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's basketball team lost a tight game on the road on Saturday to non-conference opponent Sage College. The Wildcats and the Gators played a close game, trading the lead eight times in the 40 minute game. SUNY Poly led by as much as seven points midway through the first half, but Sage would turn the deficit upside down, taking a seven-point lead themselves with three minutes left in the first half. The final score of the game was 65-63. The Wildcats fell to 2-2 this season while the Gators improved to 4-2.

 

NOTABLES:

  • Caleb Canty (Hudson, N.Y.) led all players with 17 points. The junior also had four rebounds, four assists, and a steal. He shot 45% from the field.
  • Tyshaun Copper (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had 14 points and five rebounds for the Wildcats. It was his second double-digit scoring effort of the season.
  • Averi Parker (Harlem, N.Y.) and Jake Kulakowski () rounded out the double-digit scorers for the Wildcats with 12 and 11 points respectively.
  • Josh Gregory (Whitesboro, N.Y.) had a game-high 12 rebounds in the game.
  • Sage was led by the duo of Anthony Mitchell and Deonte Sherwood. They each scored 13 points in the game.
  • Stuart Phair had 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds for the Gators.

The Wildcats will host cross-town rival Utica College in a non-conference game at SUNY Poly's Campus Center Gym. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 PM on Tuesday, November 26th.
