Brognano, Williams Selected to NEAC All-Conference Team

UTICA, NY – SUNYIT sophomore Lyndsey Brognano (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) and senior Tamara Williams (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) have both been selected to the NEAC All-Conference Team, which was announced by the North Eastern Athletic Conference this afternoon.

Brognano was selected to the All-Conference First Team after being a Third Team selection last season.  The 5-foot-5 guard earned the honor after leading the team in points (16.3) and steals (1.6) per game, as well as field goal percentage (.498), 3-point percentage (.408) and 3-pointers made (49).  Brognano was also second in the NEAC in both field goal percentage and 3-point percentage, while being third in 3-pointers made and fourth in points per game.

Williams made her third straight appearance on the All-Conference Team, this time making it to the Third Team. The 6-foot-1 center led the team in both rebounds (8.3) and blocks (1.2) per game, while placing 11th in the conference in blocks and 12th in rebounds.  A team captain during all four of her seasons on the team, Williams registered her 1,000th career point this season and is just the third Lady Wildcat to ever hit that mark, while her seven double-doubles on the year gave her 32 for her career.  She is currently the program's all-time leader in career rebounds while being second all-time in career blocks and third in career points.

Easter Faafiti of Gallaudet University was named the NEAC Player of the Year after posting averages of 21.3 points and 13.4 rebounds per game, while her coach Kevin Cook was selected as the Coach of the Year after the leading the Bison to the top seed and the right to host the NEAC Tournament after finishing with a conference record of 20-2.

The Wildcats finished the year a program-best 18-7 overall and 16-6 in conference play to earn the fourth seed in the NEAC Tournament, which will be held this weekend.  They will open the tournament with a quarterfinal-round contest against No. 5 seed Penn State Berks this Friday at 5:00 pm, with the winner then taking on No. 1 seed Gallaudet in the semifinal round on Saturday at 4:00 pm.

Friday's other quarterfinal round contest will consist of No. 3 seed Penn State Harrisburg taking on No. 6 seed SUNY Cobleskill at 3:00 pm.  The winner will then square off against No. 2 seed Keuka College on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
