WBB: Jackson Shines In Road Victory Over the Giants

La Plume, P.A. - The SUNY Poly women's basketball team earned a 60–52 road victory over the Keystone College Giants on Friday night, using a dominant third quarter and a 31 point breakout performance from Alysa Jackson to secure their first win of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

SUNY Poly opened the game with early energy, taking a 6–2 lead behind a fastbreak three from Alysa Jackson and strong finishes from Jenna Kocienda. Keystone responded with a run of their own, capitalizing on several Wildcat turnovers and a hot start from Aaliyah Barnes, who knocked down three first-quarter triples. SUNY Poly trailed 15–9 after one despite solid rebounding from Sanaa Lee and Bryanna Lucas.

The Wildcats settled in during the second quarter and began to chip away. Kayla Wilson sparked the offense with seven points in the frame, including a pair of free throws and a tough layup inside. Jackson later tied the game at 19–19 on a left-wing three, but Keystone closed the half on an 8–2 run behind more outside shooting. SUNY Poly went into halftime down 27–21.

The third quarter was the turning point. Jackson erupted for 14 points in the period, including back-to-back threes that gave the Wildcats their first lead since the opening minutes. Lucas made several key plays as well — a steal, a fastbreak layup, and a tip-in — helping extend the momentum. A buzzer-beating three from Kocienda put SUNY Poly ahead 48–40 heading into the fourth after a massive 27–13 scoring advantage in the quarter.

In the fourth, SUNY Poly maintained control. Jackson added another fastbreak bucket and her seventh three of the night, pushing the lead to double digits. Keystone made a small push late, but strong interior finishes from Lee and steady defense down the stretch kept the Giants at arm's length. The Wildcats held Keystone to limited second-chance opportunities and closed out the 60–52 victory.
