Box Score UTICA, NY – The SUNYIT men's volleyball team fell to the nationally ranked SUNY New Paltz Hawks in United Volleyball Conference action at the Campus Center Gymnasium Thursday night. The Wildcats are now 1-3 in the UVC and 7-7 overall, while New Paltz improved to 3-3 in the conference and 7-7 overall.
New Paltz, ranked 15th in the nation, registered an attack percentage of .457 on the night and held the Wildcats to a .123 hitting percentage. SUNYIT was also doomed by errors, totaling eight serve errors and 10 reception errors in the loss.
Sophomore Jeff Coon (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) had seven kills, six digs and an ace for the Wildcats, while freshman Tyler Kuss (Chili, NY/Gates-Chili) finished with six kills. Senior setter Jonathan Brochu (Latham, NY/Shaker) handed out 20 assists.
Mike Van Tyne had 10 kills and Frank Ciccone had 10 digs for New Paltz, with Misa Garo tallying 30 assists.
The Wildcats will be back in action this Saturday when they host UVC rival Stevens Institute of Technology. The match is scheduled to begin at noon.
