MSOC: Wildcats Fall on the Road Against Continentals

Clinton, N.Y. – The SUNY Poly men's soccer team fell 3-0 on the road to Hamilton College on Thursday evening. Despite a strong performance in net by goalie Tyler Barth, who recorded ten saves, the Wildcats couldn't overcome the Continentals' relentless attack. The loss moves SUNY Poly to 2-4-1 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Hamilton wasted little time getting on the board, scoring in the 3rd minute when Zach Tracy buried a finish off a pass from Troy Miller to make it 1-0. The Continentals kept the pressure on with a series of shots and corners, but Barth stood tall, making key saves against Brady Hyland, Anthony Ndiolo, and Oliver Mylon to keep the Wildcats within striking distance.

In the 37th minute, Hamilton doubled their lead when Aidan Falvey capitalized on a corner sequence, slotting home a shot after assists from Ndiolo and William Fauth. SUNY Poly searched for an answer but went into halftime trailing 2-0.

The Continentals added to their advantage midway through the second half. In the 68th minute, Patrick Ferrare converted a penalty kick to push the score to 3-0. Barth continued to battle, making several highlight saves—including stops on Ferrare, Tracy, and Ndiolo—to prevent the margin from growing larger.

SUNY Poly nearly pulled one back in the 76th minute when freshman Gavin Barth struck a shot off the post, narrowly missing the Wildcats' best chance of the match. Owen Champion also had a late look that sailed just wide in the 82nd minute, but the Wildcats couldn't find the back of the net.

Hamilton controlled possession in the closing minutes, securing the 3-0 result at home.

UP NEXT: The Wildcats enter conference play, as they will head off to Elmira College for a battle with the Soaring Eagles on September 20th at 2:00 P.M.
