WLAX: Wildcats Fall on the Road Against the Saxons in Final Game of Season

Alfred, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's lacrosse team dropped their final game of the season to the Alfred University Saxons by a score of 21-10. Five different Wildcats found the back of the net, with Madlyn LaFleur leading the charge with three. The Wildcats end their season with a record of 1-13.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Alfred wasted no time making an impact, with Amelia Booth scoring the game's first goal just 1:40 into the first quarter. Booth would go on to notch a first-quarter hat trick, including a pair of man-up goals, helping Alfred jump out to a 5–1 lead.

SUNY Poly rallied late in the quarter with three unanswered goals from Madyn LaFleur and Brinley Ronan to pull within one, but Alfred's Morgan Wise responded with a late strike, giving the Saxons a 6–4 edge after one.

The second period belonged to Booth and the Alfred attack. The Saxons scored nine goals in the quarter, with Booth adding four more to her total. Alfred capitalized on multiple free position opportunities and man-up advantages to extend their lead to 16–6 by halftime.

SUNY Poly managed two goals in the quarter—one from LaFleur and another from Callie Johnson—but couldn't keep pace with the Saxons.

Despite strong saves by SUNY Poly goalie Jayden Brown, Alfred continued to push offensively. Booth opened the third period with her eighth and final goal, while Bedette added her second. SUNY Poly's Alyssa Hawkins broke through late in the quarter, briefly slowing Alfred's momentum. Still, the Saxons held a 19–7 advantage heading into the final quarter.

SUNY Poly showed resilience in the final frame, netting three goals—including a pair from Abigail Rosaschi and a second from Ronan—but it wasn't enough to close the gap. Alfred tacked on two more goals to seal the game, with Alescia Nitti scoring off another Booth assist to cap the scoring.
