MVB: Wildcats Sweep Badgers at Home

Utica, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's volleyball team won their third game in a row, after topping the Vermont State Johnson Badgers 3-0. Multiple players played a key role in the victory, including Peter Gottler, Kaiden Ranger and Andrew Baaki. The Wildcats are now 14-9 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Set 1 SUNY Poly 25 NVU Johnson 10

SUNY Poly took an early advantage in Set 1, displaying excellent offensive and defensive play. The set began with a kill from Andrew Baaki, assisted by Joshua Slater, giving SUNY Poly the lead. Despite some strong plays from NVU-Johnson, SUNY Poly capitalized on multiple service aces and attacks by Brendan Palmer, pushing the score to 10-3. The set saw several errors from both sides, but SUNY Poly kept their composure and would cruise to a 25-10 set victory.

Set 2 SUNY Poly 25 NVU Johnson 20

In Set 2, NVU-Johnson came out with more energy, but the Wildcats offensive firepower proved to be too much. The set started with a service ace by Joshua Slater, followed by a string of attacks from key players like Peter Gottler and Kaiden Ranger. Despite some errors from SUNY Poly, the Badgers could not capitalize on the opportunities. SUNY Poly's setter, Joshua Slater, continued to find his teammates effectively, and would help lead his squad to a 25-20 set victory.

Set 3 SUNY Poly 25 NVU Johnson 15

Set 3 saw SUNY Poly continue to build on their momentum from the first two sets. A strong start from Peter Gottler and an early attack error from NVU-Johnson helped the Wildcats build an early lead. Despite some strong efforts by the Badgers, SUNY Poly's offense would overpower them for the majority of the set. Notable plays from Gottler, including several kills, and a service ace from Pin Chi Liang would help push the Wildcats to a 25-15 set victory and a 3-0 match victory.
