Boston, MA – The SUNY Poly men's volleyball team picked up two dominant victories, sweeping both Brooklyn College and Emmanuel College 3-0. These wins improve the Wildcats' record to 8-5 on the season.
GAME 1: SUNY Poly vs. Brooklyn College
The match began with Brooklyn College taking an early lead, but the Wildcats quickly answered back, capitalizing on several Bulldogs' errors, including attack and service mistakes. SUNY Poly's offense gained momentum as Peter Gottler and Andrew Baaki led the charge with key kills, while Gottler also added a service ace. The Wildcats extended their lead throughout the set, and despite a strong push from Brooklyn, the Wildcats sealed the set 25-20.
In the second set, a service error from Gottler gave Brooklyn an early advantage. However, the Wildcats quickly regained their rhythm, with multiple kills from Corey Hollingsworth and Brawn. SUNY Poly took advantage of Brooklyn's errors and extended their lead, closing the set 25-17.
The third set saw the Bulldogs struggle with several errors, including attack mistakes from Flanders and Martino. SUNY Poly capitalized on these missteps, with Aiden Passmore contributing a service ace and several successful attacks. The Wildcats finished strong, winning the set 25-16 to complete the 3-0 sweep.
GAME 2: SUNY Poly vs. Emmanuel College
The first set against Emmanuel College saw SUNY Poly jump to a 3-0 lead. However, the Saints fought back, keeping the score close. Both teams struggled with errors throughout the set, but SUNY Poly's consistent play from Andrew Baaki, and Forest Chaput kept them ahead. Despite some strong plays from the Saints, including a couple of kills, the Wildcats held on to win the set 25-21.
The second set was marked by strong offensive plays from the Wildcats, who quickly gained an advantage. Despite errors from both teams, including service and attack mistakes, SUNY Poly continued to dominate with kills from key players. The Wildcats finished the set strong, securing a 25-21 win.
