MSOC: Wildcats Surge Past Wolves for Road Win

Keuka, N.Y. – The SUNY Poly men's soccer team earned a 3-1 victory over Keuka College in a hard-fought road battle. LaEh Soe opened the scoring in the 20th minute, and second-half goals from Dominick Spychalski and Johnpaul Jerome secured the Wildcats' win. Despite a late penalty by Keuka's Liam Davis, Tyler Barth and the SUNY Poly defense held strong to preserve the victory. The Wildcats are now 3-9-1 (3-5 Empire 8) on the season

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Keuka started the match aggressively, drawing an early yellow card on Corey Hamilton in the fourth minute. SUNY Poly struck first in the 20th minute when Soe converted a chance to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead. Shortly after, LaEh was replaced by Owen Champion as the Wildcats rotated to maintain energy. The rest of the first half featured back-and-forth action with SUNY Poly generating several scoring chances, including efforts from Casimir, Jerome, and Champion, but the Wildcats' 1-0 lead held at halftime.

The second half saw Poly come out with energy, quickly adding to their advantage. In the 52nd minute, Spychalski finished a slick setup from Marcus Cole to make it 2-0. Just a minute later, Jerome struck off an assist from Spychalski, giving the Wildcats a commanding 3-0 lead. Keuka attempted to rally, making multiple substitutions and pressuring the SUNY Poly defense, but Barth and the backline held firm.

Keuka finally found the net in the 72nd minute on a penalty kick by Liam Davis, cutting the deficit to 3-1. The Wildcats finished with strong team effort, controlling possession, and generating multiple quality scoring chances throughout the match to hold on to the 3-1 win.

UP NEXT: The Wildcats will be on the road for a match with the Russell Sage Gators on October 15th at 4:00 P.M.
