Box Score New Paltz, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's soccer team picked up their second win of the season in as many days, defeating the SUNY New Paltz Hawks by a score of 1-0. Midfielder Jhonny Theze continued his impressive weekend, scoring his third goal of the weekend. The Wildcats will now have a week to prepare for their home opener vs SUNY Canton on September 11th.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Hawks came out strong in the first half, outshooting the Wildcats and earning more corner kicks. However, thanks to a series of key defensive stops and crucial saves from goalkeeper Ryan Primus, the game remained scoreless at halftime.
In the 57th minute, the Wildcats broke the deadlock with a goal from Jhonny Theze, assisted by Dominick Spychalski. Despite the Hawks' aggressive play and a significant increase in their shots during the second half, SUNY Poly's defense held firm, securing a 1-0 win.
