Hunter Sowersby Hired as SUNY Poly Head Women's Soccer Coach

Utica, NY - SUNY Poly Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Hunter Sowersby as the Head Coach for SUNY Poly Women's Soccer. Sowersby comes to SUNY Poly from Marywood University where he spent one season as the Interim Head Men's Soccer Coach and four years as the Assistant Men's Soccer coach. Coach Sowersby is the 11th Head Women's Soccer Coach in the History of SUNY Poly. 

"We are very excited to welcome Hunter Sowersby to SUNY Poly and look forward to watching everything that he will accomplish with our women's soccer program," said SUNY Poly Athletic Director John Czarnecki. "Behind his passion for soccer, a strong work ethic and ability to motivate his student-athletes to new heights, I believe that Hunter has all of the tools to take our women's soccer program to the next level." 

Sowersby is a graduate of Wells College, where he played four seasons with the Express from 2013-2016. In that time, Sowersby registered 38 points on 16 goals and six assists. 

Sowersby also began his coaching career at Wells College, working as the men's and women's assistant soccer coach for two years.  

Following his time at Wells, Sowersby was hired as an assistant boys soccer coach at Sidney Central School District. 

Most recently, Sowersby worked at Marywood University in Pennsylvania where he spent four seasons as the Assistant Men's Soccer coach and one season as the Interim head Men's Soccer coach. 

Sowersby earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Sports Management from Wells College.
