WLAX: Wildcats Drop Conference Opener to Canton.

UTICA, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's lacrosse team lost their conference opener 21-8 to SUNY Canton on Saturday. The Wildcats scored the first goal of the game but were out-scored 6-2 in the first quarter to ultimately lose 21-8. The Wildcats are now 1-6 this season.

 

Molly Burdick was SUNY Poly's leading scorer with six goals. Kaitlin Kopcza contributed two goals and an assist on offense and forced three turnovers on defense. Patricia Vanlue also forced three turnovers.

 

Samantha Dayter led the way for the Roos with six goals and four assists. Caroline Nappi also made an impact with two goals and two assists. Lindsey Wunder recorded three goals for the Roos and added two draw controls.

 

The Roos outshot SUNY Poly 34-16 and held a 15-7 advantage in draw controls. SUNY Canton's goalie Olivia Scott made six saves, while SUNY Poly's goalie, Jayden Brown recorded 10 saves.

 

UP NEXT:

The Wildcats will host Buffalo State on Wednesday at Wildcat Field. The non-conference game is scheduled for a 4:30 PM start. The game will be streamed live on the SUNY Poly Sports Network (SPSN).
