SUNYIT STAYS SCORELESS AGAINST CLARKSON, 0-0 DOUBLE OT RESULTS
UTICA, NY – The SUNYIT men's soccer team travelled to Potsdam, NY Tuesday afternoon for a non-conference match against Clarkson University. The Wildcats outshot the Golden Knights 20-11, but couldn't capitalize, leaving Hantz Turf Field with a 0-0 tie.
Leading the Wildcats in shots was sophomore Diego Montaleza (New York, NY/MLK) with 13 while junior Matthew Owusu (Brooklyn, NY/Tilden) was able to get two on goal.
Between the pipes for the Wildcats was sophomore Malick Faye (Bronx, NY/MLK) who played all 110 minutes of the match, stopping seven shots.
Leading in the shot category for the Knights was senior David Maiorino (Holbrook, NY / Sachem) with three, as sophomore Kurt Knolle (East Aurora, NY / East Aurora) and senior Steven Davis (Otego, NY / Home Schooled) each registered two.
Junior Saverino Spagnolo (Ottawa, ONT / St. Pius X) manned the cage the full 110 minutes as well, ending the game with eight saves on the day.
The Wildcats are on the road this weekend as they travel to Fredonia State to play in the Clarion Classic. They take on Fredonia Friday September 9 at 7:00 p.m. Saturday the 'Cats will take the field against Buffalo State College at 2:30 p.m.
