Eric Miccio enters his second season as the head coach of the SUNY Poly Wildcats. The Wildcats competed in the Empire 8 Conference for the first time during the 2025 season and picked up their first-ever E8 Conference win over Keuka on March 29, 2025.
Prior to joining the Wildcats, Miccio served as an assistant coach at SUNY Oswego, where he helped the Lakers qualify for the SUNYAC Tournament in 2024.
Before his time at SUNY Oswego, Miccio was the head men’s lacrosse coach at Onondaga Community College, an NJCAA program in Syracuse, N.Y. Under his leadership, the Lazers won the Mid-State Athletic Conference (MSAC) Championship and Region III Championship in 2019 and 2022. The Lazers also made an NJCAA Quarterfinal appearance in 2022. Notably, in 2019, the Lazers claimed the NJCAA National Championship.
During his tenure at Onondaga, Miccio developed a highly successful program, producing 11 NJCAA All-Americans, 5 NJCAA All-Academic selections, 26 All-Region III honorees, and 16 All-MSAC players. Two of his players were named NJCAA Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year in 2019. Miccio was honored with several coaching awards, including MSAC Coach of the Year (2019, 2022), NJCAA Region III Coach of the Year (2022), NJCAA District A Coach of the Year (2022), and NJCAA National Championship Coach of the Year (2019).
Miccio’s coaching journey began at Mercyhurst North East, where he restarted the NJCAA Region III program. In just two years, he led the Saints to a Region III postseason appearance. Miccio developed seven All-WNYAC, three All-Region III, and two NJCAA All-Academic honorees. In 2018, the Saints made significant progress, advancing to the playoffs, and Miccio was named Region III Coach of the Year and voted NJCAA Coaches Association National Coach of the Year by his peers.
Miccio’s first coaching role was as the defensive and recruiting coordinator for the Oswego Lakers men’s lacrosse team in 2012. He also served as interim head coach at Oswego at the start of the 2014 season.
As a high school player at West Genesee (N.Y.), he helped lead his team to a NYS Class A State Championship in 2008. Miccio then played for the Onondaga Community College Lazers, winning back-to-back NJCAA National Championships in 2009 and 2010. He was a team captain and a two-time NJCAA Academic All-American. Miccio continued his playing career at SUNY Oswego, where he was named team captain in 2012 and earned All-SUNYAC honors.
Miccio has also coached for club lacrosse programs and training academies. He served as a head coach for True Lacrosse Upstate in 2023 and 2024, and as the head defensive instructor with Platform Lacrosse Academy, where he helped launch Platform’s first-ever travel teams from 2019 to 2023. Miccio also coached in the Under Armour All-American Games in 2021, leading the Upstate Command team in Baltimore, Md.
Miccio resides in Liverpool with his wife, Amanda, and their two sons, Luca (5) and Jack (3).
