With over 25 years of collegiate coaching experience, Coach Colleen McTygue brings an unmatched passion for player development, academic excellence, and competitive success to every program she leads. Her coaching journey spans from the grassroots level to NCAA tournament play, earning her a reputation as a dedicated mentor, strategic leader, and tireless advocate for her student-athletes.

Coach McTygue served as the head women's soccer coach at SUNY New Paltz from 1997 to 2016, where she built a competitive program in the SUNYAC conference. Her leadership culminated in a historic 2011 season, guiding the Hawks to a SUNYAC Championship and a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament—the most successful season in program history. That year, the team finished 14-6-3 overall with a 6-2-1 conference record. Over her tenure, she led the program to multiple SUNYAC playoff appearances, consistently developing her players both on and off the field.

After her time at New Paltz, McTygue took the reins at Averett University in Virginia, where she led the Cougars from 2017–2019, continuing her commitment to growing competitive programs and mentoring student-athletes.

A former professional player in England’s top women’s league, McTygue competed with Arsenal in 1996 and Millwall FC from 1994–1995, bringing elite playing experience to her coaching philosophy. She holds a master’s degree in Educational Administration with a concentration in Higher Education Leadership from SUNY New Paltz and a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Plattsburgh State University.
