DELHI, NY –
The SUNYIT men's swimming team registered a total of 144 points and
finished in fourth place out of 14 teams at the SUNY Delhi Fall
Invitational this past Saturday, while the women's team placed
fourteenth.
Freshman
Jacob
Ammons (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) had a strong
outing, finishing second out of 11 swimmers in the 1650 Freestyle
with a time of 19:08.38, while finishing eighth out of 26 swimmers
in the 100-yard Backstroke (1:07.78) and tenth out of 18 swimmers
in the 100-yard Butterfly (1:07.00). Freshman Chris
Kassay (Lockport, NY/Starpoint) placed second out of
25 swimmers in the 200-yard Freestyle with a time of 1:59.31 and
fifth out 45 swimmers in the 100-yard Freestyle with a time of
0:54.26, while fellow classmate Gavin
Craddock (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz) finished third out
of 28 participants in the 100-yard Breaststroke (1:08.84) and
seventh out of 43 participants in the 50-yard Freestyle
(0:24.17). Rounding out the top individual finishers for
SUNYIT was freshman Kory
Parsons (Rome, NY/Holland Patent), who placed third
out of 26 participants in the 100-yard Backstroke (1:06.13), and
sophomore Bryan
Rawlings (Baldwinsville, NY/C. W. Baker), who placed
sixth out of 14 swimmers in 500-yard Freestyle (6:04.50) and
seventh out of 28 swimmers in the 100-yard Breaststroke
(1:13.14).
Junior
Bridget McMahon (Avoca, NY/Alfred State) was the
top Lady Wildcat swimmer, finishing 17th out of 22
participants in the 100-yard Backstroke with a time of 1:39.39 and
24th out of 39 participants in the 50-yard Freestyle
with a time of 0:35.20. Junior Katie Schlegal
(Baldwinsville, NY/Morrisville) finished 11th
out of 20 swimmers in the 200-yard Freestyle with a time of
2:36.09.
Suffolk County
Community College won the men's event with a final score of 231,
while Fashion Institute of Technology won the women's event with a
score of 196.
The Wildcats are
off until the New Year, when they close out their regular season at
the Herkimer County Community College Invitational on Saturday,
January 15. The event is scheduled to begin at 1:00
pm.
