GANSEVOORT N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced that Sydney Johnson (Nine Mile Falls, W.A. / Lakeside HS) has been selected as the NEAC Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of 10/19 to 10-25.

Sydney Johnson (Nine Mile Falls Wash.) has been chosen as the NEAC Women's Volleyball Player of the Week after a sensational week for the SUNY Polytechnic Institute Wildcats. The freshman setter paced the Wildcat offense through three huge conference wins this past weekend, which helped SUNY Poly clinch the NEAC regular season title. Starting off NEAC play against Gallaudet in a battle between the first-place teams, Johnson dished out 40 assists and added five kills of her own on 10 swings to go along with 10 digs and three assisted blocks in Poly's thrilling 3-2 victory. Johnson then led the Wildcats to a pair of sweeps on Saturday, handing out 26 helpers along with three kills and two aces in a 3-0 win over SUNY Cobleskill before tallying 28 assists and two more aces in a 3-0 triumph over Morrisville State to finish the three-match run with 94 assists (8.55 a/set) and a .467 hitting percentage at the net. Johnson is now second in the conference in both assists (818) and assists per set (9.74) for the Wildcats, who finished NEAC play with an 11-1 record while currently sitting at 22-3 overall.
