MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's lacrosse team lost a close game to SUNY Potsdam on Wednesday by a score of 13-12. The game between the Wildcats and the Bears was tightly contested. The Wildcats led for the majority of the game after overcoming an early 3-1 deficit. Potsdam made a late push to get themselves in striking distance late in the game and took the lead back with under two minutes to go in the game. The Wildcats set up a great game-tying chance in the closing seconds of the game but the shot did not find the back of the net. The Wildcats are now 2-1 this season.

Potsdam took a 2-0 lead in the first three minutes of the game on goals by Josh Huiatt and Peyton Walsh. After trading goals to bring the score to 3-1, four straight goals by the Wildcats gave SUNY Poly a 5-3 lead. Three of the goals by the Wildcats in the first quarter were scored man-up. The second quarter was a wash with both teams scoring three goals leaving the advantage for the Wildcats at two goals at halftime. SUNY Poly held a 2-1 advantage in the third to extend their lead to three, but the Bears came roaring back into the game, scoring six of the eight goals in the fourth. Potsdam tied the game up with under three minutes left in the game and took the lead with 1:59 left on the clock. Poly had a decent look at a game-tying goal in the closing seconds of the game, but it did not find the net allowing Potsdam to walk with the victory.
