Baseball Splits with Keuka as Mike Rose Throws Second-Straight Shutout

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – SUNYIT split with Keuka on Sunday, losing the first game 15-4 before rebounding in the second game with a 3-0 win.

The home Storm pounded out 16 hits in game one on Sunday, putting the game essentially out of reach with 14 runs in the first 3 innings.

Leading the way for Keuka was the second baseman McDermott, who finished game one 4-for-5 with 5 RBI's.

The lower half of the lineup did the majority of the damage for Keuka, as six-hitter Anderson went 3-for-4 with 4 RBI's to complement McDermott (7-hitter).

Devin Frye had a 2-for-3 day in the losing effort for the Wildcats, and Cody Doyle pitched 3.2 innings of relief to stop the bleeding for the Wildcats, striking out 2 and walking 2.

Michael Rose (Chatham, N.Y. / Chatham H.S.) delivered a huge pick-me-up for the Wildcats after the game one blowout, delivering his second-straight shutout to lead SUNYIT to a 3-0 victory. Rose was near-unhittable, striking out 6 on the day while giving up just 4 hits to a Keuka team that had notched 16 in the first game.

The Wildcats scored a run in the second and 2 in the fifth inning to take the win. Chandler Evans (New Hartford, N.Y. / New Hartford) went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the game, as SUNYIT improved to 12-16 on the year, and 5-7 in conference.
