The goal of this commitment is to build philosophical foundations for the development of athletic programs that are broad-based, equitable and dedicated to the well-being of the student-athlete. Areas of focus include acquiring and training a well-qualified staff; constant review of facilities, equipment, scheduling, and travel accommodations to allow each athlete to achieve his/her maximum potential; and continued collaborations between athletics, the wellness center, food services, career services, student government, and other campus constituents in order to achieve maximum levels of support for the student athletes. Activities in this area include:
- Creation of the Wildcat Fitness Center and Field House, opened in the fall of 2011, which contains brand new, state-of-the-art fitness equipment for use by all students, faculty, and staff.
- Collaborations with food services to extend and create more flexible dining hours and "to-go lunchboxes" to better meet the needs of student-athletes.
- Continued development of an annual athletic awards banquet to honor the success of our student-athletes.
- An annual Alumni weekend is held every fall. Wildcat Weekend provides an opportunity for current student-athletes to network with alumni. For more information on Wildcat Weekend, click here.
